Introduction
Albany Airport (ALB) provides over 200 flights daily for over three million passengers every year. Albany International Airport serves 11 passenger airlines through a 20-gate passenger terminal, and is the principal airport for the Capital Region in eastern New York state. Located four miles from the city of Albany at Colonie, Albany International Airport is easily accessible from major roads and Interstates 87, 88 and 90.
Passenger flights at the Albany International Airport began in October 1928, when the airport was still Albany Municipal Airport. The airport officially went international in 1979. Recent improvements include an extension to Albany airport’s primary runway to improve capacity and safety.
