Introduction
Glasgow Airport (GLA) is the busiest of Scotland's three international airports, serving over 8.5 million passengers a year to around 90 destinations.
GLA is located eight miles (13 kms) west of Glasgow city centre, with convenient transport links to the heart of the city by road and rail. GLA is located just north of the M8 motorway (junction 28), with direct trains operating from the adjacent Paisley Gilmour Street station to central Glasgow, Ayr and the Clyde Coast. Regular buses connect passengers to the train station.
Glasgow International Airport's two terminals provides travelers with a selection of quality resturants, cafés and bars, news and gift shops, and a tax-free shopping centre with leading brands. Shoppers can arrange to pick up their purchases on return to GVA. GLA Airport also provides extensive business, banking and communications facilities, including fax and e-mail telephones, plus tourist information and amenities for families and travelers with special needs. Enhanced security measures have also been implemented.
Passenger numbers at GLA have been boosted in recent years by the advent of budget airlines, serving an increasing number of European destinations, and further airport development is set to meet this demand.
