Introduction
Mexico City International Airport (MEX) is one of the busiest airports in Latin America, and in the world's top 30 airports for passenger numbers and cargo volume. Mexico City Airport handles over 21 million passengers annually.
Mexico City International Benito Juárez Airport is located 13 kilometres (8 miles) east of the historical center of Mexico City. Convenient transport links into the city are provided at the airport, including airport metro, taxis, buses and rental cars.
Recently expanded, the newest wing of Mexico City International Airport is a state-of-the-art extension of the east end of the airport. The airport latest developments involves addition of new concourses in the Terminal 1 and 1-E, and two new terminals, Terminal 2 and 3, capable of handling a further 15 million more passengers per year. This expansion arose after plans to build a second airport in Tizayuca (Hidalgo) were dropped.
